Methods: Chart analysis was completed for patients seen under GA with ages ranging from 1-20 years of age at the time of treatment. Treatment completed included stainless steel crowns, pulp therapy, extractions, composite restorations, and SDF treatments.
Results: For patients seen in the OR in 2019, the average age was 5.72 years old. Average wait time was11.82 weeks. Average carious teeth were 8.89. Average composite restorations were 1.80. Average crowns (sprigs/stainless steel) were 4.32. Average pulp treatment was 0.71. Average extractions were 2.79. Average dental abscess was 0.14. Average patient in pain was 0.46. Average facial swelling was 0.05. Average patients requiring antibiotics 0.17. The average urgent patient was 0.32. In 2021, the average age was 5.48 years old. Average wait time was 9.89 weeks. Average carious teeth were 8.58. Average SDF applied was 0.29. Average composite restorations were 1.96. Average crowns (sprigs/stainless steel) were 4.01. Average pulp treatment was 0.73. Average extractions were 2.60. Average dental abscess was 0.11. Average patient in pain was 0.47. Average facial swelling was 0.03. Average patients requiring antibiotics 0.14. The average urgent patient was 0.17.
Conclusion: After reviewing 14 months, the results indicate that the extent of decay and average age decreased, suggesting that patients were seen in the OR sooner. Further data collection is indicated for more conclusive results.
