Carl Buchanon II, DDS, MPH is a first year pediatric dental resident at UCSF. He was born and raised in South Bend, IN. He received his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2011. He then went on to complete his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Texas A&M University School of Rural Public Health in 2013.
In 2019 he completed his dental training at the University of Michigan where he received the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Award, the International College of Dentists Humanitarian Award, the Ryan E. Turner Memorial Award, and the Samuel D. Harris Award for Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry. Carl’s interest in pediatric dentistry did not come until his third year of dental school when he did his pediatric rotation. He went on to do a rotation at Bay Cliff, a summer camp for special needs children in northern Michigan and the rest is history. He has enjoyed his time thus far at UCSF and is eager to learn and grow more within his residency and in the pediatric dentistry world.
