Many pediatric dental offices see a high volume of patients and families are scheduled with limited time to spare in between appointment slots. Not having a well-planned system for seeing children with complex medical conditions can often lead to communication breakdown between healthcare providers and patient families; resulting in stress, disappointment, and wasted appointment time. This problem can become even more pronounced in practice settings where patients are not assigned to one specific provider. Developing a good system requires participation from all business and clinical staff, ensuring that communication and paperwork is organized in ways that maximizes efficiency and clarity.
