Erin Howard, DMD (she/her/hers)

Erin Howard, DMD, is a second-year pediatric dental resident at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. She obtained her DMD degree from Tufts University in Boston, MA, in 2022, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Hampton University in Hampton, VA, in 2017. Passionate about pediatric dentistry, Erin aims to practice in Houston, TX, after completing her residency, with a focus on providing quality care to children.

Driven by her commitment to making a difference in children's oral health, Erin's interest in dental academia was sparked by its potential to shape the future of dentistry. She believes that through research and education, she can contribute to advancing the field and improving patient outcomes by starting with how it is taught. Erin's decision to focus her research on dental academia reflects her dedication to educational innovation in pediatric dentistry.

Throughout her residency journey, Erin has been fortunate to receive mentorship from Dr. Nikki Tucker, the Division Director of the Pediatric Dental Department at ECU. Dr. Tucker's guidance has not only enhanced Erin's technical skills but has also emphasized the importance of academia. Erin is profoundly grateful for Dr. Tucker's mentorship, which has played a pivotal role in shaping her research project.

Erin extends her sincerest gratitude to Dr. Mark Moss, for his invaluable guidance and expertise, which have greatly influenced her research journey. Additionally, she expresses thanks to Dr. Randall Ball for his contributions to her growth and development in pediatric dentistry.

Erin Howard's dedication to pediatric dentistry, coupled with her enthusiasm for education, sets her apart as a future leader in the field. With her unwavering commitment to serving communities and her gratitude for her mentor's guidance, Erin is poised to make a meaningful impact on children's oral health and the dental profession as a whole.
