Afia Pokuaa Amoah D.D.S., M.S. is a final year Pediatric Dental Resident at the University of Toledo Medical Center and on track to graduate by May 2024.
She was born and bred in Kumasi, Ghana, where she schooled for her elementary and secondary education. She later gained admission to the University of Ghana Dental School where she graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree as part of the class of 2014. She completed her first and second year housemanships at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Legon Hospital respectively. Thereafter, she relocated to the US with her husband in 2017. She went back to school to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery in New York University in 2021. She did a one-year Service Fellowship in Community-Based Dental Care with The Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is hoping to move to the New Jersey/Philadelphia area to work in private practice whiles her husband pursues a fellowship at the Children's hospital of Philadelphia in Neonatology and Clinical Pharmacology after graduation.
She serves in a few roles in her church community and especially enjoys teaching Sunday School. She is a proud mother of 2 girls and 1 boy ages 6 years, 3 years, and 6 months. She is passionate about mentorship, enjoys music and spending time with her loved ones in her less busy times.
