Nicholas Smith, DDS, is a second year pediatric dental resident at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio. Dr. Smith has always had a passion for serving others. His journey to becoming a pediatric dentist began with a 2-year church mission in Santiago, Chile, where he developed a deep appreciation for different cultures and communities.
After returning from his mission, Dr. Smith pursued his education, earning a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Utah. He then continued his studies at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio School of Dentistry, where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery. During his time in dental school, Dr. Smith distinguished himself with multiple scholarships and awards in clinical dentistry and research, graduating with higher honors.
Driven by his desire to specialize in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Smith pursued a 2-year residency at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio. During his residency, he has gained valuable experience in sedation dentistry, behavior management, and treating children with special healthcare needs. He also had the opportunity to work alongside other medical specialists in hospital dentistry as the chief resident.
Dr. Smith is passionate about creating positive experiences for children at the dentist and instilling good oral health habits from a young age. He believes in serving his community and has participated in dental health trips to Guatemala, providing care to underserved populations. Dr. Smith remains committed to staying up-to-date with the latest dental techniques through continuing education.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Smith enjoys fishing, boating, and playing and watching sports. He also has a love for nature and hopes to one day fulfill his childhood dream of getting his private pilot’s license. However, his greatest joy comes from spending time with his wife and their children.
