Pediatric Dental Resident

David Flanders is currently a Pediatric Dental Resident at the Texas A&M School of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in the piney woods of East Texas in the city of Tyler, where he received his BS in Biology from the University of Texas at Tyler (2012). He attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio through the Army Health Professions Scholarship Program and graduated with a Distinction in Dental Education (2016). He completed a 1-Year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Fort Campbell, Kentucky (2017) before being assigned to the Dental Health Activity in Bavaria, Germany for three years. During this time, he completed the Army Advanced Clinical Practices Program to further his clinical knowledge and experience (2020). He was then assigned to the Dental Health Activity in Hawaii for 18 months and served as the Program Director of the Army Dental Assistant Training Program partnered with the American Red Cross (2022). He is currently a Major in the United States Army and his military awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Expert Field Medic Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. Upon graduation this summer, David will be assigned to Camp Humphreys, South Korea to serve and support the children and families stationed overseas.
