Shannon E Mills, DDS Oral Healthcare Consulting

Dr. Shannon E. Mills is an independent healthcare consultant and lecturer based in Concord, New Hampshire. Dr. Mills graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1977 and was commissioned as a Dental Officer in the United States Air Force. After graduation from a two-year general dentistry residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in 1983, he served in the US and overseas, gaining broad experience in dental education, research, technical evaluation of equipment and materials, healthcare accreditation, medical logistics, and healthcare policy. He retired as a Colonel in 2005 and joined the faculty of the University of Nevada School of Medicine as an Associate Professor and Assistant General Practice Residency Director in Las Vegas. In 2007 he joined Northeast Delta Dental in Concord New Hampshire as Vice President for Professional Relations and Science. He retired in 2018 to become an independent healthcare consultant and currently serves as a subject matter expert on infection prevention for thez CDC under a contract with Cyberdata Technologies. He is Internationally recognized as an expert in dental infection prevention and has authored or co-authored 29 articles in peer-review journals. As the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General's for Dental Services' Consultant for Infection Control, he was he was assigned to serve as a contributor to the 2003 CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Healthcare Settings. He was the editor for the Organization for Safety Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) Dental Waterline White Paper and Recommendations published in 2018. He is Chair of the ANSI/ADA Standards Subcommittee on Infection Prevention and is a member of the US Technical Advisory Group to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 106 - Dentistry. Dr. Mills is the author of the American Dental Association Practical Guide to Effective Infection Prevention and Control published in 2022.
