Pulp therapy is essential to relieve pain, prevent the spread of infection, and maintain the integrity of primary teeth, as they serve as placeholders for permanent teeth. Properly conducted pulp therapy helps in preserving primary teeth until they are naturally replaced, promoting healthy oral development and overall well-being in children. This presentation will present emerging evidence-based information on pulp therapy in the primary dentition and young permanent teeth. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry clinical practice guidelines will be reviewed, and practical case scenarios will be presented. Vital and non-vital treatment approaches will be covered.
Learning Objectives:
1) Recognize the signs and symptoms of dental pulp problems in children, including dental caries and pulpitis.
2) Describe the different treatment options for pulp therapy in children, such as pulpotomy, pulpectomy, and indirect pulp treatment, and when each is indicated.
3) Comprehend the steps and techniques involved in performing pulp therapy procedures in pediatric patients.
