332 - A case report of a flip book to improve caregivers’ knowledge about oral health

Children benefit the most when their caregivers and dental providers work together to prevent and manage oral health issues. However, caregivers’ knowledge about oral health may not necessarily increase after continuous iterations of anticipatory guidance and oral health education provided during dental appointments in a school clinic setting (as shown by previous unpublished research conducted at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in 2022.) Others have shown that consistent, comprehensive, and concise educational materials (flipbooks) have increased caregivers’ knowledge of oral health and positively impacted patients. This case report details the design process and first iteration of flipbook materials to be used at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine Pediatric Dentistry Program.
