Dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI) is a genetic developmental disturbance of dentin which occurs during tooth development, specifically during the histodifferentiation stage. DI may be inherited alone, or in conjunction with osteogenesis imperfecta. There are three types of DI, all of which may present with blue/gray to yellow/brown tooth discoloration. This case report details the assessment and dental treatment plan of a 15-year-old male with DI, and discusses the characteristics of DI, its impacts on dental care, and planned surgical and restorative treatment for this patient.
