281 - Does incorporation of a digital alert in the Patient’s chart, increase the usage of the Neurobehavioral tool (Bee Mindful Cart) in the dental clinic?

Purpose:

The Bee mindful cart is a type of neurobehavioral tool that is used by the Northwell health system. It was recently introduced to the dental department and a project conducted by Dr. Anthony Skrobola, determined that it was underutilized in the dental clinic.

The purpose of this study is to determine if an addition of a “Bee Mindful” alert in Dentrix (Digital Dental Record) will lead to greater utilization of the Bee Mindful cart which in turn will result in a better patient experience.

Methods: This study involves training front desk personnel, dentists and assistants in the pediatric dental clinic about the Bee Mindful program and their roles. Front desk personnel will identify new and existing pediatric dental patients with autistic spectrum disorder registered in the pediatric dental department of Cohen's Children Medical Center from 12/01/2023 to 02/28/2024. These patients will then be tagged on Dentrix. After 3 months data will be collected from the patient’s chart and the Bee Mindful binder to analyze its usage.
