ABSTARCT
Gender differences in caries on isolated smooth surfaces vs isolated pit and fissure surfaces in the pediatric population 2-5 years old age group: A retrospective study
Objectives:
The objective of the present research is to assess gender differences in caries on isolated smooth surfaces compared to the caries on isolated pit and fissure surfaces in the pediatric populations.
Methods:
This retrospective study is to be completed through a chart review process for the pediatric patient population in the 2-5 years old age group that was seen at Staten Island University Hospital dental clinic. To represent smooth surface caries and pit and fissure surface caries, upper left primary canine and upper left primary first molars are to be evaluated respectively. The study compared the incidence of the two types of caries in the male and female population aged 2-5 years old.
Results:
Currently the study is still under investigation, final data pending.
