338 - Peg-Shaped Lateral Build-Up After Comprehensive Orthodontic Treatment

Abstract: Peg-shaped lateral incisors occur between 2-5 % of the general population, with bilateral incidence slightly more common and frequent in females than males. Morpho-differentiation disturbances lead to a peg shape, with the tooth structure mostly normal and the function of ameloblasts and odontoblasts not being disturbed; however, it impacts the tooth's shape. This case report explores the application of peg-shaped lateral build-up as a supplemental technique following comprehensive orthodontic treatment, presenting a detailed examination of orthodontic care and highlighting the incorporation of lateral build-up to address aesthetic concerns. Comprehensive clinical assessments are documented, including diagnostic records, treatment planning, and progress evaluations. The case report elucidates the indications, procedural steps involved, and observed outcomes regarding dental aesthetics and functional improvements. Key aspects of the report are treatment challenges and patient/ parent satisfaction. The findings provide valuable insights into the clinical utility as an adjunctive measure in refining orthodontic results post-comprehensive treatment.
