Legako, K., Kerins, C., Alvarez, M., Layton, S. (Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, Dallas, TX)
Purpose: This study aims to further investigate the qualities that pediatric dentists look for and consider most essential when hiring a new pediatric dentist as part of a process to improve graduate program curriculum.
Methods: An electronic survey was emailed to the Paul P. Taylor Alumni Association. This survey presented alumni with questions on the top five clinical competencies, top five interpersonal skills, and top five intellectual skills considered essential to be a well-trained pediatric dentist. The survey also asked participants to rank the top three qualities sought after when hiring new pediatric dentists. To determine experience, participants were asked to choose how many years they have been a pediatric dentist. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics.
