Purpose: This study investigates the follow-up patterns of pediatric patients (0-12 years old) of New York University Langone Sunset Park (NYU SP) that seek emergency dental care. The study aims to analyze whether these patients subsequently return for comprehensive dental exams or continue to return only for limited/emergent exams.

Methods: A chart review using Epic is completed of new pediatric patients that visit NYU SP for emergency dental care from September 1st, 2023, through November 30th, 2023. The patients are followed for 6 months to evaluate whether these patients return to NYU SP for a comprehensive visit (D0150), a limited exam (D0140) or not at all.

Results: to be determined

Conclusions: AAPD dictates a dental home be established by 1 year old; however, many patients only seek dental care for emergency visits. We aim to understand post-emergency visit behavior to better improve dental care strategies for establishing dental homes for pediatric patients.
