Abstract: A Talon cusp is a rare dental anomaly presenting as an extra cusp, most commonly on the lingual surface of maxillary anterior teeth. This condition may cause interference with occlusion, which can hinder ideal orthodontic alignment. Additional concerns due to abnormal morphology include cuspal fracture, plaque control, and soft tissue irritation. It is important for dental professionals to understand the risk of adjusting the talon cusp to address the issues listed above, as this may result in pulpal exposure requiring additional treatment. This case reports the treatment of a dental abscess caused by over-reduction of a talon cusp.
