Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of an educational intervention regarding the use of athletic mouth guards in youth baseball.

Methods: An educational module was created to provide information on athletic mouthguards. A pre-survey and post-survey were administered before and after the educational module and included Likert scales response questions. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize survey responses, and paired t-tests and sign rank tests were utilized.

Results: There is a statistically significant difference in the mean response of the pre-survey and post-survey to both of the following statements: ‘Mouth guards should be required at all GAMES’ (p=0.0117) and ‘Mouth guards should be required at all times, including practice’ (0.0058).

Conclusion: An educational module regarding the protective benefits of athletic mouth guards in youth baseball was effective in changing opinions regarding their use.
